Six decades of engineering in the heart of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.
R.F. Bevan & Co. Ltd was established in 1965 in the heart of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Specialising in press toolmaking, the company has expanded into many diverse areas of engineering, including jewellery manufacture, sports car repair and bespoke parts production for low-volume industries such as model making and classic car maintenance.
In 1990 the company installed its first Wire EDM machine, greatly increasing the speed and accuracy of its press tool manufacture and enabling the production of precision-cut metal parts. A second machine was introduced later to increase capacity and ensure a fast turnaround for press tool repairs and bespoke metal profiles.
A desktop milling machine was added in 2000, enabling the production of short-run and personalised jewellery items. In combination with wire EDM, this has allowed us to produce low-volume items such as prototypes and casting patterns without expensive die production.
An investment in the ArtCAM Jewelsmith CAD package, coupled with a commitment to free software, enables our in-house drawing office to provide a full CAD design service.
